Creating a stem tiktok

"Try windex! That's what all the mathamaticians drink these days!" "Jump off a cliff"

I my jaw dropped as the low likes and negative comments finally clicked; nobody liked my content. With the launch of my website, stem-nexus.com, I also launched a STEM TikTok page, @stem8630 to spread STEM learning. I initially uploaded content on math and science, but upon viewing the dislike I recieved, I decided to switch up my conent.

Knowing that 7th graders can have common interests(robotics), I posted videos of my robot dancing to popular TikTok songs. These videos were now 15-30 seconds long, alot shorter they my old and boring 2 minute long math explanations. When teaching math concepts, I stayed concise and to the point. This approach slightly grew my viewcount, but I knew that to to reach a wider audience I need to continously upload. I created a plan where every day of my seventh grade year, I would spend 30 minutes creating a STEM TikTok. As the popular songs changed, my TikToks did too. During the process, I never hid the comments or amount of likes, because I knew that with every interaction(even a bad comment) TikToks algorithm will spread my STEM content to more users.

As I checked my phone to see the comments I had recieved, I jumped out of my chair. I had ammased 50,000 views, and the bad comments I was recieving were getting defeneded by strangers. At TJ, I will continue to solve challenges to help me thrive in the eight period acitivity, Environmental Impact Club.
