My journey with math
"Lets hire a tutor" my grandpa said, but I wanted to give it one more try. During my 5th grade summer, I wanted to study pre-alegebra to keep my busy during the summer. By buying a pre-algebra book and creating a plan of 10 pages a day, I was able to get started. I frowned as I read struggled to understand the conepts of Dilating and translating shapes. My grandfather had been out of touch with this material for many, many years, but suggested we hire a tutor. Before hiring, I went on my computer to try and study the conept on Khan Academy, and the videos click something in my brain. This concept seemed much easier, and I was able to complete this course, allowing me to study Alegbra 1 during 6th grade.
Math has been the thing that has kept me occupied during the school year and even in school breaks. After completing geometry in my seventh grade break, I thought some reviewing would be more beneficial than studying algebra 2. This and my goal of spreading STEM lead to the creation of STEM Nexus, stem-nexus.com. On my website, I created a full geometry course, where I went over the concepts with a video explanation, lesson summary, practice problems. While my initial goal was to review geometry, I added a 1 hour highschool physics review video and a 15 page writing guide. Knowing that these videos could help students just like Khan Academy helped me.
When randomly Googling "Who created stem nexus?" I was shocked to see my name as the first result. Math has been something I've enjoyed my whole life, and will be something I'll continue at TJ.
